What Is the BPM Tapper?
The BPM Tapper measures your sense of rhythm by having you tap the screen (or press Spacebar) to a beat. It analyzes the timing between your taps in real time and instantly shows you what BPM you're tapping at.
In Free Tap mode, tap as much as you like and watch your average tempo update live. In the 15s Challenge, you'll hear a target BPM and try to hold that exact tempo as accurately as possible for 15 seconds. If the Absolute Rhythm Test is about guessing a BPM by ear, the BPM Tapper is about physically reproducing it with your hands.
How to Play
Free Tap
Tap the pad at whatever pace you like. Your current tempo and overall average update in real time from the gaps between taps. Pausing for more than 2.5 seconds ends the reading automatically, and you can hit 'Reset' anytime to start fresh.
15s Challenge
Pick a difficulty (target BPM) and you'll hear 4 guide beats. Once you feel the tempo, your first tap starts a 15-second timer. Your final rank is based on how accurately you held that BPM for the full 15 seconds. If you want to practice a specific BPM, use 'Custom' at the bottom of the list to enter your own number.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I still have fun if I don't have great rhythm?
Definitely - a big error at first is completely normal. Try Free Tap mode to get a feel for it, then start the Challenge on Easy or Normal before working your way up.
Q. Spacebar doesn't seem to work.
Previously, pressing Space right after clicking another button would sometimes re-trigger that button instead of tapping. That's now fixed - Spacebar always registers as a tap anywhere on the page.
Q. What's the difference between Free Tap and the 15s Challenge?
Free Tap has no set goal - it just shows you what BPM you're currently tapping at. The 15s Challenge gives you a specific target BPM and scores how accurately you hold that exact tempo for 15 seconds.
Q. Can I quit in the middle of a challenge?
Yes - tap 'Cancel & Exit Challenge' anytime to stop and return to the difficulty selection screen.
Q. Can I practice at a specific BPM of my choosing?
Yes - tap 'Custom' at the bottom of the difficulty list to enter any BPM between 30 and 300 and start a challenge at that exact tempo. Handy if you're practicing to match a specific song.
What It Means to Tap Out a Rhythm
1. Why Everyone's Tap Tempo Feels Different
Even listening to the same song, people tap it out slightly differently by hand. That's because perceiving rhythm and physically translating it into muscle movement are two separate skills - and both can improve with practice.
2. Free Tap vs. the 15s Challenge: What Each One Trains
Free Tap is closer to a perception exercise - noticing what BPM a given speed actually is. The 15s Challenge is a short, focused test of how precisely and consistently you can hold a set tempo. Alternating between the two builds a more well-rounded sense of rhythm.
3. Work Your Way Up Gradually
Rather than jumping straight to Hell or God difficulty, start with Easy or Normal and enjoy watching your average error shrink. Repeating the same level and seeing your score improve is a big part of the fun.
